AFFORDABLE CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM (ACP)

VERIZON is participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) to assist eligible households to pay for internet services. The ACP will provide assistance to customers needing to connect to jobs, healthcare, and virtual classrooms. Verizon Home Internet plans are now even more affordable for qualifying households with Fios Forward, 5G Home Internet and LTE Home Internet. OPERATION SMOKE DETECTOR PROGRAM

this program is designed to provide and install smoke alarm(s) free of charge to Virginia Beach residents who own AND live in the requested home. HELP FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES

The Virginia Veteran and Family Services (VVFS) connects Virginia’s veterans and their families to federal and state benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have earned. Their mission is to provide resource referrals, care coordination, homeless services, peer services, justice involved services, and supportive services to Virginia’s Veterans, National Guard, Armed Forces Reserves, caregivers and family members. They will work with any Virginia Veteran, no matter the discharge status, in need of behavioral health support. The regional office can be reached at 757-224-5208×2208.

This past fall, Virginia Beach Housing & Neighborhood Preservation launched the “Get & Give Help” awareness campaign to connect people to community resources and opportunities to get involved. A key part of the campaign is a new and enhanced BEACH Community Partnership website, www.BEACHCommunityPartnership.org, that can be used as a tool for referring your clients to needed resources and promoting ways the community can support your organizations. One of these tools is the recently updated Pocket Pal. You can get your new Pocket Pal here. The BEACH Community Partnership asks that when printing the Pocket Pals to hand out, please print on yellow paper, if possible.

An evidence-based community program designed to engage families and help them learn how to increase conversation with their children during the first few years of life. Interactive talk — specifically back-and-forth conversation — has been proven to be a key factor in healthy early brain development. FAITH WORKS COALITION

Faith Works Coalition’s mission is to eliminate poor living conditions by providing health and safety repairs for elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Staffed by volunteers and supported by donations, FWC has completed over 1,000 projects and won many humanitarian awards. Many people find locating information about available long-term services and supports a daunting task. The mission of Virginia Easy Access is to make this search easier. The Virginia Easy Access website connects older adults, adults with disabilities, veterans, and families to information about a wide range of public programs and supports in a way that is accessible and easy to navigate. COMMONSHARE PHARMACY

Commonshare, located in Richmond, is a fully licensed nonprofit community pharmacy providing free or low cost prescription medications across Virginia. As a registered collection site for donated drugs, Commonshare may receive eligible unopened and unexpired donated drugs and redistribute to people struggling to afford medications.
